			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Call for Practitioners for Wellness Café and Workshops</strong></p>
<p>Elvesring Center for Mindfulness will be opening officially in January 2010.  We are looking for practitioners to participate in our Wellness Café Fundraiser, teach workshops and classes and develop programs to promote mindful awareness.  Our space will also be available for events. If you are interested in participating, please sign up with the link at the bottom.</p>
<p><strong>Wellness Café</strong></p>
<p>This fundraiser will take place on two days to give people more opportunities to attend and participate.</p>
<p>Friday, January 8 from 6:30 &#8211; 9 pm and<br />
Saturday, January 9 from 4 &#8211; 6 pm</p>
<p>Sign up to talk about your services, give out your business cards or talk one-on-one to potential clients.</p>
<p>We are inviting you to introduce an array of healing modalities.  It does not necessarily mean that you will teach/practice at Elvesring, but we hope you will.  This is an opportunity for you to reach a broader audience.</p>
<p>Event Details:</p>
<p>The top floor will be a lecture room where you can speak for 10-12 minutes, demonstrate your practice or explain what you offer and let people get to know you.</p>
<p>The second floor will have small tables at which you can talk to people one-on-one in 15 minute segments which people will sign up for.</p>
<p>The first floor will have private spaces for sample sessions that require a massage table. (Those who do hands-on must have professional liability insurance.)</p>
<p>People seem to be very interested in getting a sample of Hot Stone Massage and we have a table and machine with stones.</p>
<p><strong>Want to do Future Workshops?</strong></p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t attend, but would like to teach or practice at Elvesring this year, please let us know on this same form. We are looking for all kinds of workshops from Meditation and Yoga to Metaphysics and Psychic Development.</p>
<p>We would love to have you to help us further our mission of empowering people to be healthy by educating them about developing awareness of self, others and the environment plus the variety of healing modalities available such as BodyTalk, Qi Gung, Metaphysics, Intuitive Development, Energy Medicine, Sound Healing and more.</p>
<p>Note: All practitioners doing workshops need their own professional liability insurance. (We can provide information on getting insurance.)<br />
Join Us for Light Supper and Discussion</p>
<p>You are invited to speak or participate on either or both days.</p>
<p>We&#8217;d like all practitioners to join us for a light supper Saturday, January 9th from 7-8pm after the event to talk about fees and structuring of classes and to give us some feedback.</p>
<p>Please get back to us as soon as possible if you are interested.  Once we have a list of practitioners, we will send out invitations to friends and give them to you to send out as well.</p>

<p>Through Kit’s living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, she has discovered how Mindfulness could improve her mental, physical and spiritual well-being.  In January we will be starting workshops for others who have been living with chronic physical or mental illness, extreme stress or post traumatic stress disorder.  It will be a program to develop mindfulness skills, with weekly support groups and action partners.  Eventually, there will be complementary classes offered such as yoga, qi gong, massage, BodyTalk, soul conversations, Non-violent Communication, chanting, and aromatherapy. If you are interested in becoming a practitioner please contact Seana Anderson at (718) 623-0933.</p>
<p>Come learn about Elvesring Center for Mindfulness, celebrate Kit’s and Seana’s birthdays, and hear some great music from friends who are donating their services.</p>

We stay up too late and get up too early. We interrupt our sleep with drugs, chemicals and work, and we overstimulate ourselves with late-night activities such as television.</strong></p>
<p>Common symptoms of sleep deprivation include:</p>
<ul>
<li>tiredness</li>
<li>irritability, edginess</li>
<li>inability to tolerate stress</li>
<li>problems with concentration and memory</li>
<li>behavioral, learning or social problems</li>
<li>frequent infections</li>
<li>blurred vision</li>
<li>vague discomfort</li>
<li>alterations in appetite</li>
<li>activity intolerance, overstimulation</li>
</ul>
<p>Below are some essentials of good sleep habits. Many of these points will seem like common sense. But it is surprising how many of these important points are ignored by many of us.</p>
<p><strong>Your Personal Habits</strong></p>
<p>* Fix a bedtime and an awakening time. Do not be one of those people who allows bedtime and awakening time to drift. The body &#8220;gets used&#8221; to falling asleep at a certain time, but only if this is relatively fixed. Even if you are retired or not working, this is an essential component of good sleeping habits.</p>
<p>* Avoid napping during the day. If you nap throughout the day, it is no wonder that you will not be able to sleep at night. The late afternoon for most people is a &#8220;sleepy time.&#8221; Many people will take a nap at that time. This is generally not a bad thing to do, provided you limit the nap to 30-45 minutes and can sleep well at night.</p>
<p>* Avoid alcohol 4-6 hours before bedtime. Many people believe that alcohol helps them sleep. While alcohol has an immediate sleep-inducing effect, a few hours later as the alcohol levels in your blood start to fall, there is a stimulant or wake-up effect.</p>
<p>* Avoid caffeine 4-6 hours before bedtime. This includes caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and many sodas, as well as chocolate, so be careful.</p>
<p>* Avoid heavy, spicy, or sugary foods 4-6 hours before bedtime. These can affect your ability to stay asleep.</p>
<p>* Exercise regularly, but not right before bed. Regular exercise, particularly in the afternoon, can help deepen sleep. Strenuous exercise within the 2 hours before bedtime, however, can decrease your ability to fall asleep.</p>
<p><strong>Your Sleeping Environment</strong></p>
<p>* Use comfortable bedding. Uncomfortable bedding can prevent good sleep. Evaluate whether or not this is a source of your problem, and make appropriate changes.</p>
<p>* Find a comfortable temperature setting for sleeping and keep the room well ventilated. If your bedroom is too cold or too hot, it can keep you awake. A cool (not cold) bedroom is often the most conducive to sleep.</p>
<p>* Block out all distracting noise, and eliminate as much light as possible.</p>
<p>* Reserve the bed for sleep and sex. Don&#8217;t use the bed as an office, workroom or recreation room. Let your body &#8220;know&#8221; that the bed is associated with sleeping.</p>
<p><strong>Getting Ready For Bed</strong></p>
<p>* Try a light snack before bed. Warm milk and foods high in the amino acid tryptophan, such as bananas, may help you to sleep.</p>
<p>* Practice relaxation techniques before bed. Relaxation techniques such as yoga, deep breathing and others may help relieve anxiety and reduce muscle tension.</p>
<p>* Don&#8217;t take your worries to bed. Leave your worries about job, school, daily life, etc., behind when you go to bed. Some people find it useful to assign a &#8220;worry period&#8221; during the evening or late afternoon to deal with these issues.</p>
<p>* Establish a pre-sleep ritual. Pre-sleep rituals, such as a warm bath or a few minutes of reading, can help you sleep.</p>
<p>* Get into your favorite sleeping position. If you don&#8217;t fall asleep within 15-30 minutes, get up, go into another room, and read until sleepy.</p>
<p><strong>Getting Up in the Middle of the Night</strong></p>
<p>Most people wake up one or two times a night for various reasons. If you find that you get up in the middle of night and cannot get back to sleep within 15-20 minutes, then do not remain in the bed &#8220;trying hard&#8221; to sleep. Get out of bed. Leave the bedroom. Read, have a light snack, do some quiet activity, or take a bath. You will generally find that you can get back to sleep 20 minutes or so later. Do not perform challenging or engaging activity such as office work, housework, etc. Do not watch television.<br />
A Word About Television</p>
<p>Many people fall asleep with the television on in their room. Watching television before bedtime is often a bad idea. Television is a very engaging medium that tends to keep people up. We generally recommend that the television not be in the bedroom. At the appropriate bedtime, the TV should be turned off and the patient should go to bed. Some people find that the radio helps them go to sleep. Since radio is a less engaging medium than TV, this is probably a good idea.<br />
Other Factors</p>
<p>* Several physical factors are known to upset sleep. These include arthritis, acid reflux with heartburn, menstruation, headaches and hot flashes.</p>
<p>* Psychological and mental health problems like depression, anxiety and stress are often associated with sleeping difficulty. In many cases, difficulty staying asleep may be the only presenting sign of depression. A physician should be consulted about these issues to help determine the problem and the best treatment.</p>
<p>* Many medications can cause sleeplessness as a side effect. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if medications you are taking can lead to sleeplessness.</p>
<p>* To help overall improvement in sleep patterns, your doctor may prescribe sleep medications for short-term relief of a sleep problem. The decision to take sleeping aids is a medical one to be made in the context of your overall health picture.</p>
<p>* Always follow the advice of your physician and other health-care professionals. The goal is to rediscover how to sleep naturally.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s do a little experiment today. Think of something in your life that you are really really happy about. Something you love. I might be your home or who live with or work or your pet that you love a or that it is fall. Spend a minute in this place of feeling this miracle of love.</p>
<p>Now think of something right now in your life that is more challenging in you life.</p>
<p>Albert Einstein once said, &#8220;There are two ways to live your life and the choice you make will define the life you have.&#8221; one way to live as if nothing is a miracle. The other way to live life. If. Everything. is a miracle.</p>
<p>So right now, make a decision that you wanna live with everything as a miracle, or nothing as a miracle.</p>
<p>Today I choose to see everything as a miracle and put it all inside the miracle category. That which I love and that which is more challenging, but that teaches me to love, even bigger.</p>

<p>HEY FOLKS, This is a powerful and miraculous time, and we know that you are feeling the intensity of the new energies that are reaching your planet. These fiery and creative energies of the Divine Feminine and Masculine are burning away all that is illusion and “not love”, and revealing to you the love that lies at the core of all things.</p>
<p>Those of you who have taken the opportunity to raise your consciousness in the process of ascension and to move into higher dimensions of thought and action, will certainly feel the energetic challenges that will be presented in this month. The energy will forge new patterns of feeling and being, and you will find that your lives changing rapidly and subtly, as you begin to manifest the love that will bring forth your heart’s desire.</p>
<p>For know, dearest Lightworkers, that it is only Love that will create and manifest the desires of your heart. It is only love that will create the New Earth that you desire.</p>
<p>So, let us speak a little about the energetic shifts and changes that you are experiencing right now. As we have mentioned in our earlier channels for this year, you are embracing within yourselves the powerful energy of the Twin Flame consciousness, as the Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine within you integrate and become One.</p>
<p>These energies are passionate and turbulent and move very quickly. You will find that many challenges and changes will arise in your lives, and that you will not be able to solve these with your mind. Only your heart and your feelings will lead you forward. If you try to think and reason, you will fall out of the flow of Divine Creative Intelligence, and nothing will seem to work out. But, if you allow yourself to just b e open and receptive and to move with the flow, without analyzing, just trusting where you are being led, you will find that miracles will open out before you.</p>
<p>For, you will find that the key is to trust that your Higher Aspect, your soul and your heart know better what is in your highest good, and that these decisions can be made in the speed of holographic time and do not require the slow linear workings of the ego mind in order to succeed. You are learning to operate as multi-dimensional and holographic beings, living in the split-second moment of the NOW and making choices with the Heart in that NOW moment.</p>
